Upper Cervical Chiropractic and Asthma

Asthma

Asthma is an extremely common breathing ailment that plagues the world. Do you suffer from bouts of breathing difficulties? Do you find yourself having to carry an inhaler with you every where that you go in order to feel safe? If you are searching for a drug-free alternative to help your asthma, then you will want to look into upper cervical chiropractic care. It is the best way for you to get natural relief, and there are many studies to back up that claim.

According to one study, 47 individuals of various ages who suffered from asthma were treated using upper cervical chiropractic. Many of these individuals were children or young adults. What were the results? Nearly all of the participants saw significant benefits from the upper cervical chiropractic treatment. Asthma symptoms were at least lessened if not eliminated completely. There are many testimonials available on the Internet of individuals who saw relief of their asthma symptoms thanks to alignment of their C-1 and C-2 vertebrae.

An Upper Neck Injury?

But what does the upper neck have to do with asthma? The fact is that the C-1 and C-2 vertebrae support the skull. This puts them in close contact with the brain stem and spinal cord. The slightest misalignment in these bones can thus apply pressure to parts of the body that are responsible for sending the messages that control how the entire rest of the body functions. The misalignment may be small enough to cause no pain itself, but still cause serious symptoms throughout the body such as asthma.

Where did the injury come from? You may not remember experiencing any trauma to your neck. That could be because the injury occurred at birth. Even if there wasn't a major birth complication such as the umbilical cord becoming wrapped around the neck, an injury still could have occurred even if just due to lengthy labor. For others, the injury occurs as a child or an adult due to whiplash or another injury affecting the upper neck.

NUCCA Chiropractic Care

What is NUCCA
The National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) is an organization of Doctors of Chiropractic dedicated to patient care, education and research.

Spinal health care using the NUCCA procedures focuses on detecting and correcting a small misalignment in the upper neck area. Gentle, non-invasive adjustments don’t require any turning, twisting or popping.

Your upper cervical spine (neck) area influences all areas of your body. Injury or chronic misalignments can cause headaches, migraines, neck pain, low back pain, weakness and more.

The NUCCA technique is currently offered by less than 1% of all the Doctors of Chiropractic.

Before the NUCCA procedure can be performed, I will sit down with you and discuss your history and symptoms. If I determine that NUCCA can help, a thorough examination and x-rays will be done. A complete report of your findings and treatment options will be discussed.

First adjustment
Precision x-rays are taken of the spine before any treatment begins. The adjustment is performed with the patient lying on their side and the doctor applying a very light pressure behind the earlobe. A full demonstration can be seen on the video above.

The NUCCA procedure can be summed up with 5 major distinctions as compared to traditional Chiropractic:

  • Gentle adjustment to the neck with no turning, twisting or popping.
  • Precision x-rays to measure before and after corrections.
  • Total body posture and balance improvement
  • Greater stability to the spine
  • Hold adjustments longer with fewer visits
